2mun2 Exclusive Podcast from Medellin, Colombia – Dany F!!

One of Dos Mundos’ favourite producers, for a long time now, is Medellin based beatmaker Dany F. He first caught our attention with his mix of deep house and cumbia, a few years ago, and his sound has been evolving over time and turning heads all over the world.

We had a chance to kick it with Dany in Medellin last December, where he proceeded to show us some of the tracks he was working on and completely blew our minds! One of the tracks he was putting together was ‘Chalole Batata’ which was released TODAY on vinyl on Matias Aguayo’s label, COMEME! (WOW!)

Here’s an interview (translated to english) that we did with Dany F – and scroll below for some lovely treats!

2mun2: Dany, how did you get into making music?

Dany F: When I ws 13 I decided to get into downloading and playing with electronic music software and started getting a feel for it and ended up making tracks. That was 5 years ago.

2mun2: What we like about you is that not only do you mix Cumbia, but you also add elements of UK Funky, Moombahton, etc. Where do you get your inspiration from?

Dany F: From the music I listen to and like and even from things I don’t like. For example, 3ball, I don’t really like, so I made a 3ball that I would like. And I think it came out pretty good.

2mun2: Who are you loving now? In terms of other artists? 

Dany F:  Lots. Bomba Estereo who are the most famous from here (Colombia) and a guy from Ireland who is called El Buo (The Owl) who does like deep cumbias. I also really like another guy from here, Bleepolar who also does really cool stuff.

2mun2: You’re 18 and lots of talent. What are your plans? Do you want to study music?

Dany F: At the moment, this is a hobby. I study marketing and when I have free time I make music. I’ll see what will happen there. I don’t really plan to study music production but you never know what the future holds.

2mun2: So what do your parents say when they hear your music? 

Dany F: Um…to keep studying.
