New A Tribe Called Red / Javier Estrada remix

Could this be the best thing to happen as a result of NAFTA? (joking!)

The homeys from Ottawa, A Tribe Called Red are leading the charge for Canadian made Electronic music. The mix of traditional Pow Wow sounds with club music, dubbed Electric Pow Wow, has been rocking dance floors across the Americas. If you haven’t listened to their AMAZING album (which was recently short listed for the Polaris Prize) you can download it here —> http://www.electricpowwow.com/

Our other homey, Javier Estrada, has been a long time friend of the show and he’s credited for creating Pre-Hispanic Dubstep (amongst other genres) and for being able to produce remixes in almost any emerging Electronic sound from moombahton to 3ball and UK Funky, to name a few.

Both these musical entities create music that flips perceptions and brings their culture to the forefront of their sound while still staying completely relative…some might even say they’re ahead of the game.

So it makes sense that these guys would team up (again) to make some more banging music. The first time they came together they made a track called ‘Indigenous Power’ and as DJ NDND from ATCR once said to me ‘both our cultures were colonized, only difference is your colonizers spoke Spanish’. BOOM.

NOW – Javier Estrada has taken another ATCR track and flipped it, this time on a trap tip. This track dropped over the weekend and I’m sure it’s tore up many speakers already – so get ready for this one.
