New Omega el Fuerte track recorded in prison // FREE D/L

Some people have a ton of talent and deserve to be famous, some people have a ton of talent but might be too mental to be famous.
Take the case of Dominican superstar Omega aka Omega el Fuerte, who reached all sorts of levels of fame when he hit the scene with his ‘Mambo Violento’ sound. Sometime around 2007 he started releasing tracks that featured his signature growly voice over some neck-breaking fast mambo/merengue rhythms.
Although I can’t really place when his debut album dropped, as several pirated versions and unofficial versions of his debut album have surfaced over the years, I remember getting an Omega y su Mambo Violento CD at Super Latin Music (in Toronto) sometime in the summer of 2010. At that point, he was already a superstar beyond the Dominican community. Omega was THE dude at the time. He re-released some of his ‘classic’ tunes, re-worked them, polished them and put out some HQ videos.
That’s when the fame must’ve gotten to him and he started to perm his hair and wear plunging necklines.

OK – he’s an artist and he’s got crazy talent – we’re going to give him a pass on that one.
But earlier this year he did something (or maybe he didn’t do it as he claims) that federal court could not let pass. One of his dancers accused Omega of beating her…and then she took it back! On some ‘oh it was a misunderstanding’ thing…like ‘oh I’m sorry my face got in the way of your fist’ kinda thing?
(Love the video in this post, after his sentencing his entourage went bananas and started to rush the cops! Yelling ‘now we have to go sell drugs, steal and kill! Omega gave us work!”)

Now, Omega el Fuerte is now Omega el Preso and has that stopped him? Not one bit – this video surfaced shortly after his incarceration. A preview of his upcoming album – gotta love how he acapellas and beats out the rhythm on the prison bench!
And today – the internet is a buzz with his new track! Released today (I think?) it’s clearly a recording of Omega singing into a prison phone and placed over a produced studio track. Thank You Internet.
