For those that don’t know, SONORA DINAMITA is one of the OGs of Colombia’s music scene. Originally formed in 1960, in Cartagena, the group lasted 3 years with their original setup. Twelve years later, in 1975, Discos Fuentes’ golden boy Julio Ernesto Estrada ‘Fruko’ Rincón took the group under his wing and helped make them one of the biggest acts to ever come out of Colombia. Their career would span 3 decades and some of the members still tour around the world as Sonora Dinamita.
Fast forward, to a new generation of cumbia heads who have turned a curiosity into a passion for cumbia music. An entire generation of DJs/Producers look upon Sonora Dinamita as legendary, cumbia trailblazers. The homeys from SOBERBIO MUSIC in Mexico are counted amongst that generation.
